The Big Burger Biannual - Presented by Hank Marvin Market

Published on 14 November 2017 by Presented by Hank Marvin Market

Off the back of a number of highly successful events and in response to a call from other parts of Melbourne and regional Victoria, the inaugural Hank Marvin tour kicked off in September, launching at the market’s home ground at Alma Park East, where Paul Wesolek, market founder rolled out two days of the Big Burger Biannual, providing endless burgers and fries via twenty of Victoria’s top vendors. Next up was a hugely successful fourth iteration of the burger extravaganza at Ballarat.

Wesolek has become attuned to putting on a multiday event for big crowds, using each location to “tweak concepts and introduce new traders to the discerning punters and is pumped to roll out some new concepts throughout the roadshow”.

Scouring the state for foodie hot spots, Wesolek focuses on “activating spaces that are within good vicinity to populous cities, that are picturesque and allow for an atmosphere that is akin to a giant outdoor picnic”.

Ticking all the boxes and marking stop four on the tour is Big Burger Biannual at Watergardens Town Centre, Brimbank where a four-day event will be held from December 7 to 10. Over 15 new, emerging and local traders will flip burgers and dunk fries for the hungry crowds. Wesolek has also sourced a number of unexpected takes on traditional burgers including Mexican, Jamaican, Vietnamese, Korean, and Thai Issan to name a few. There will also be a line up of dessert and drinks specialists, along with craft beer and cider to enjoy in the sun.

For the Sunday only, Canine Wellness Kitchen, who specialise in hand made doggie treats will be serving up the Baaram Moo Burger and the Hawaiian Hula Burger exclusively for Big Burger Biannual.

As always, groovy music will permeate the event space, while children will be taken care of with face painters, a giant chalkboard and entertainment. In case of inclement weather there are blankets and plentiful undercover dining halls on offer. “We look to attract a good balance of families and foodies to our events, and to deliver good vibes wherever we go and can’t wait to bring our a-game to Watergardens come December,” Wesolek said.
