Join Western BACE for some fun, engaging, and low-pressure activities geared towards both kids and parents who want to learn and play with interesting technologies together. No prior experience is required and all the equipment needed is provided at the Digital BACE popup in the Atrium.

Family Fun with Tech - Monday 9 July 

Kids aged 6 to 11 years old will learn about programming and have some fun on technologies like Virtual Reality, Sphero robots, Littlebits Maker Sets and Ozobot line following robots.

Technology Taster - Tuesday 10 July Morning Sessions

Girls and Boys aged 10 to 15 years old will learn about and experience Augmented Reality with the Microsoft Hololens, Virtual Reality, 3D Printing & CNC Manufacturing.

Drone Day Taster - Wednesday 11 July 

Girls and Boys aged 10 to 15 years old will learn about Drones and the link to “Jobs of the Future” with David Skinner, an aerospace engineer from Bask Aerospace. Participants will get hands on experience with the Tello Drone which is a small drone which can be controlled by an app or by coding a programing with visual blocks representing code.

Learn to Code a Drone - Wednesday 11 July

Girls and Boys aged 10 to 15 years old will learn about Drones and the link to “Jobs of the Future” with David Skinner, an aerospace engineer from Bask Aerospace. Participants will gain an understanding of how drones operate and develop skills to fly the Tello Drone safely and with confidence. Using an iPad to control the Tello drone, the kids will get an opportunity test out different flight modes and try some aerial tricks and stunts.

Intro to Tech for Preschoolers - Thursday 12 July

Kids aged 3 to 6 years old will be introduced to technology and problem solving through play including Ozobots, which are miniature line following robots which can sense colours and use that to understand instructions and make decisions.

STEAM Day Power Things with code - Friday 13 July Morning Session

This session is aimed at the beginner or novice coder but is also suitable for kids with some coding experience as there will be an opportunity to explore the functionality of the micro:bit and options to create more complex programs. Tickets for this event include Micro:bit Go Starter kit which each girl and boy will get to take home to continue learning and coding.
