There's a world of flavour coming to your table

Published on 17 May 2019

Because food is what brings us together, we’re building a new community hub with food at its heart.

Here, in The Marketplace, you’ll find local producers, passionate providores and skilled artisans selling fresh fruit and vegetables, specialty meats and cheeses, traditional breads, handcrafted pastries and much more.

You’ll be able to enjoy flavourful dishes inspired by street foods from different corners of the globe too, relax in new communal spaces, take advantage of a large children’s play area and join in pop-up events.

We also welcome Aldi to Watergardens Town Centre as part of this milestone 5000m2 development, making feeding your family at home even easier.

By introducing an array of new brands and retaining community favourites, The Marketplace is designed to be the ultimate one-stop destination for discovering the latest food trends and stocking up on everyday essentials.

Watergardens Town Centre will remain open for business throughout the construction of The Marketplace, which is due to open mid-2020. Building works have been carefully staged to minimise any inconvenience.

Temporary changes to car park

As part of the next stage of evolution for Watergardens Town Centre, necessary construction works will take place in the eastern section of the Centre’s car park, adjacent to The Marketplace development.

These car park works are designed to improve customer convenience and the overall amenity in the area. While final timings are still to be confirmed, we anticipate that works will conclude by the 2019 September school holidays.

The rest of the Watergardens car park will remain unaffected by these development works, and customers will still be able to access the Centre via the entrance next to Woolworths and The Coffee Club. Please be assured that all affected disabled and parents with prams parking will be temporarily relocated close to the Centre entrance, throughout this construction period.

We are delivering the evolution of Watergardens in a responsible manner, and as part of our robust preparation process and in conjunction with traffic management and wayfinding specialists, we have developed a range of management plans designed to minimise the impact of these works on our community.

We thank you for your patience while we herald the next stage of the Watergardens evolution.

Q.What exactly is happening at Watergardens Town Centre?
We’re building a new community hub with food at its heart. This 5000m2 indoor-outdoor shopping and tasting destination will be called The Marketplace and feature a range of independent stores and fast-casual dining options. As part of this milestone development, we are pleased to welcome Aldi to Watergardens Town Centre.

Q: What will the new food marketplace involve?
The Marketplace will celebrate the special role of food in our community by bringing together specialty grocers, artisan bakers, passionate providores and makers of authentic street foods from around the world as well as an Aldi supermarket and much more. This natural light-filled marketplace also encompasses communal spaces ideal for hosting culinary events and an all-new children’s play area.

Q: When does the construction take place?
Construction begins next to Woolworths (near Bakers Delight) in May 2019 and is scheduled for completion mid-2020. The centre will remain open for business throughout this time, and works have been carefully staged to minimise inconvenience.
